Virus in Flash Files

For those of you who think that flash files does not have viruses, think again. the SWF/LFM-926 virus can be found inside flash files or files with the .swf extension. You can read more here.

So from now on, if you recieve attachments such as .bat .exe .com .vbs and others of that sort, remember to include .swf too.

Sem 1 2002

Its now week 2 into the semester and things are starting. New groups have been form, assignments are coming in and my mind set is engaging into a new semester.

The most interesting unit that i am taking this semester would have to be Internet Security, the very first lab we did Port Scanning, the second lab is Password Recovery/Cracking. Other things that we will cover would be Packet Sniffing, PGP, Digital Signatures/Certificates, SSL, File Integrity Checking, Personal Firewalls, Vulnerability Scanners, Key Stroke recorders, Trojan Horses, Responding to Internet Attacks, VPNs, etc…

I always wanted to know abit of stuff like that, but never knew where to start. I’m pretty sure after this semester my perspective of the Internet would be quite different.
