My Desk of Feb 2006 - Jul 2008

This is the desk that i’ve used to send out the most email in my life. This is the desk that i’ve used to do the most work in my life. This is the desk that i will remember even when i’m 80.

Our office is moving and we all look forward to better stuff ahead.

I’m a Singapore Tourism Ambassador

Win a free trip to Singapore with Project Postcard 2008

I love my country and i’m not shy to say it. Not only do i love my country, i’m also a tourism ambassador and i think everyone in the world should come to Singapore at least once in their lifetime.

What best time to come when Singapore is hosting the world’s FIRST F1 night race this September for FREE!! All you need to do is to send an eCard to your overseas friend.

I’ve sent to a number of friends already, so if you win, do let me know. ;)

Night Festival

National Museum of Singapore

Have you been to the National Museum? If you have, then have you went at night before? Thepans were there on 26th July evening to experience the very cool Night Festival where they played outdoor movies, free admission to the Museum and a fantastic lighting installation on the facade of the building.

Enjoy the photos.

The web in 10 years

Had a lunch conversation with a colleague and we toyed with the idea of being able to accurately predict what will the web be like in 10 or 20 years from now.

If you have a view, i’ll love to hear it. Drop me a comment. :)

  1. Bandwidth – I think with bandwidth growing at the current rate, slowly all data storage & desktop applications will become web based.
  2. Mobility – With mobile devices becoming more and more versatile, i think the mobile phone will eventually fuse with all portable devices (ie. Music, Camera, Video Recorder, Computer, Projector, etc) and it will definitely be internet enabled from almost anywhere.
  3. Affordable – Internet should also slowly become super cheap, maybe even almost free as costs will slowly be borne by advertisers.
  4. Semantic Content – Online content will eventually use a standard semantic standard. If we can use SWIFT code for bank transfers, i don’t see why we can’t use Microformats (or similar) for content.
  5. Universal Profile – I also feel slowly we will all use a universal profile. We have so many user accounts everywhere, twitter, facebook, flickr, yahoo, iGoogle, Gmail, etc… Sooner or later, we will all be able to choose to have one universal online profile if we wanted.

So my prediction is :

Affordable Internet everywhere via a mobile device to access all content, data, applications in a standard way using a universal profile.

Thepans at Henderson Waves

Henderson Waves

This evening after a heavy dinner at Little Bali, we went to Henderson Waves for a stroll. The bridge stands 36 metres above Henderson Road and its the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore. It connects the two hills of Mount Faber and Telok Blangah Hill.

Wooden deck floor

The wooden deck makes me feel as if i’m on a ship. The round corners also allows people to sit, recline and relax. You can literally sit anywhere.

Kids going wild

The kids definitely had fun too. They were climbing up and down the interesting structure. We wanted to take a group photo of them all hanging off the hand rail, but as some could not hold so long, we just could not catch the right moment. Some even let go when they could not hold any longer and fell on their butts.

Kiddy group photo

Ok, at least we manage to get them all to sit down together.

Cool Benches

The benches were also super cool as the gentle red light made it all so different.

Cool benches

Looks like a super cool place to hang out in the evenings. If you are a local and have not yet been there, you are defiantly missing out one of the best places in Singapore.
