Burnout

Woke up this morning feeling tired. I think its the compounded lack of sleep plus the high brain cell burn rate over the last couple of weeks. Each and every single thing i have to think about will bug me badly. Every SMS i receive makes me wanna throw my phone at someone.

Could not drive to church and even during the service i felt unwell. Then at mid afternoon, my mind and body gave up. I felt horrible. My body stopped responding me. I had to head home.

Stumbled to bed… and crashed. Not sure what happened after that. Only remembered my wife caring for me.

I thank God for my wife constantly, she somehow managed to nurse me back to health with ginger water and a soothing medicated backrub. Ready to get back to work on monday for another week.

Jam on Faber

We went to Gillman’s village to have a simple dinner to celebrate my Mom’s birthday. Everyone was there, Dad, Mom, all my siblings and even Grandma. It was a really nice night.

After dinner we decided to drive up Mt Faber for fun also to do something together. We parked at the peak got off and went to have a look at the cable cars, it was really nice and calm.

When we were going off, while going down slope, we got into a jam. People were honking and some got off their cars to see what was happening. I did the same and from what i can see, i think a bus was stuck. I asked my brother to come along with me to see whats happening and as kaypoh Singaporeans, we went up ahead to check things out.

The bus was really stuck and its not just because the road was narrow, the car on its right sticked out into the road too much, the car on the left was illegal parking. Afraid to hit those cars, the bus driver did not know what to do. There was no way he could move as it was at a turn… and buses need space to turn.

After a quick assessment, i shouted at everyone, “hey lets try to move the cars”, no body responded at first untill a big sized guy started to put his hand on the car. We pushed and pushed, but it did not move. Knowing that its either we succeed or we get stuck here for dunno how long, we gave it another shot. This time we bounced the car. As the car bounced, it hopped abit, abit more and yet a bit more and its done. The bus tried moving, but the other car was still blocking, so without anymore hesitation, we started moving the other car. lol… After a while, all went back to their cars and everything was back to normal.

Its cool to see people getting together to solve problems. So for the record, yes you can move cars with your bare hands.

5785

Went for a family wedding today and it was a nice church wedding. With church weddings comes songs and definitely also the sharing of the word.

During the reception my in laws told me that the Pastor gave them 4D numbers. I was a bit surprised at first as i can’t imagine what they meant, but as they explained it became clear.

You see, during the sermon, the Pastor was actually talking about the husband and wife relationship and there was one point where he was explaining that the man need to make decisions when no one can make the decision. The example he used was choosing the colour to paint the house.

He said, colour 5 seems nice, 7 also quite nice, but 8 also not bad, but then finally decided to got for colour 5. So there you have it, a Pastor giving out 4D numbers, 5785! lol… I had a good laugh.

Popout 07

Popout 07 Zopim

I tried to get as many people i knew to go to for Popout 07 and managed to get Ken and Mike to come along. I’m glad we went as we definitely learned a few things that night.

I was a bit late, but managed to still get a sit and to my surprise i sat beside Claudia (her post about popout here) whom i knew from the net.

There were few presentations and i particularly liked www.zopim.com and Bookjetty.

Zopim’s idea is very simple and their implementation is also simple and elegant. I’ve cut and paste below their about us page, better let them explain whats its all about.

What is ZopIM?
ZopIM is the next generation sales Instant Messaging platform that will be FREE and EASILY DEPLOYED on any website.

Why is ZopIM free? You kidding?
No, we are not kidding. For too long Enterprise-level Instant Messaging tools have been cost-prohibitive for the Joe/Jane on the street and Consumer-level IM services are not equipped for sales.

Who needs ZopIM?
Anyone & everyone who sells their products or services over the internet. ZopIM helps you keep track of leads, provide customer support and INCREASE SALES CONVERSION without paying a dime/cent/yen/Euro/yuan/rupiah (you get the idea).

If you need to provide your clients online chat support, look no further.

BookJetty is by the talented and humble Herryanta Siatona. His idea is also very simple, take Amazon’s book listing, put it beside your fave library’s listings and you are off to a book fest. Buy or loan, its totally up to you.

BookJetty is user-friendly book cataloging system to keep track of the books you have read, currently reading or want to read. You can tag, rate and review your books, show your book list on your blog, share your catalog and meet friends.

You can also check your books availability in your local libraries seamlessly. It currently integrates with about 300 libraries worldwide. So you can borrow from the libraries to save money, or buy from Amazon.com if you feel like it. You no longer have to manually swap between the Amazon.com and the library catalog.

Popout 07 Mozilla

Gen Kanai from Mozilla then made the final presentation. Other then a sneak peek of features in the next version of Firefox, he also shared with all abit of what Firefox is about and commented on each of the presentations of the night.

It was a good night and after that went with Mike and his friend Niel for a simple subway dinner while sitting outside City Hall MRT.

I wonder when is the next web related event like this. Looking at people excelling in their field really motivates me to want to do good work.
