The Philosophy of Socrates

The Philosophy of Socrates by Thomas C. Brickhouse and Nicholas D. Smith

After seeing that program on Socrates, I picked up The Philosophy of Socrates by Thomas C. Brickhouse and Nicholas D. Smith from my school’s library.

“I say that it is the greatest good for a man to discuss virtue every day and those other things about which you hear me conversing and testing myself and others, for the unexamined life is not worth living for men…” ~ taken from The Philosophy of Socrates by Thomas C. Brickhouse and Nicholas D. Smith

I do agree with some of his points, especially with his famous words “Know Thyself”. I think alot of people got involved in cults, because they never really questioned. Its like an unexamined faith. God have mercy.

greek philosophies

Last week, i saw a very good programme on the Greek Empire and the majority of the documentary was on the great philosopher Socrates. Its interesting how some Philosophies can change our mundane lives into lives of meaning and purpose. Philosophy is from the Greeks, by way of Latin, philosophia, “love of wisdom”. I wonder if thats a virtue or sin?

I was just thinking of hosting my pictures on the net, but its too much work resizing and croping and making a page just for that. So i got myself an account with PhotoPoint.com. I have added some pictures and you can view them here.
