CMS Matrix

CMS MatrixIf you need a CMS (Content Management System) and don’t know which to go for, go to CMS Matrix to do a quick comparison on the shortlisted CMS you have in mind. That is of cause if you do have something in mind in the first place.

With the many CMS out there and the many types, its really not an easy task. Some are using a windows environment, some are using LAMP, some using Oracle Database, the list just goes on.

I’ve installed, WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Movable Type, PHPNuke, etc. and they all can be used to create a website, serve content, get the job done.

But there are a few things i do feel important to consider if you really want to get into it.

  1. It should be Open Source or cheap.
  2. It should have a huge community of people using it, so that when you need help, you can find help.
  3. It should have the necessary modules / plugins based on the features you need. eg. Forum, Poll, Comments, etc.
  4. It should be easy to customise to the look you want.
  5. It should not be a pain to use in the long run.

Hope you find something suitable.

I personally think WordPress is really powerful now and can be customised to become lots of things.

Also of late, Squarespace looks promising. CushyCMS and LightCMS looks easy and fun to use too. Can’t wait to try them.

Bliss

Cleo having a drink at BlissWhat a wonderful Saturday it was.

Got up at 7:15am and went jogging. Came back, read the papers, had a shower then went straight back to bed. lol…

Kids came back from Chinese class and we got ready for lunch at home.

Brought Cleo to afternoon phonics class, then headed to Starbucks, to have my latte and got some work done. Wife brought Clié to Popular to get some stationary and books, hence i had peace and full concentration.

After picking Cleo up from her class, we headed to Ikea and got hotdogs for the kids as a snack while waiting for their turn to go into the play area. Had tea and chicken wings with wife, we chatted. Got the kids out from the play area and we only bought a $2.90 clock.

We then headed to Punggol Park and had dinner at Bliss.

Wife, kids, food, beer…

Reached home, showered and slept at 9:30pm.

What a day. What a Saturday.

Steamboating at thepans

My wife loves to have steamboat, hence we have it at home sometimes. This time round we invited my wife’s secondary school friends as its been a long time since we last got together. We also had 2 friends from church who came to join us.

It feels not long ago that i was trying to get acquainted with Pearl’s classmates and trying to blend in. With the years, we all got quite friendly and my wife’s friends are also now my friends. Some are married, some have kids, some are single and very eligible, some got the date wrong and did not show up. lol…

We had a fun time catching up, chatting about life, updating each other on what we are up to. We ate and ate. We had wine too. Lots of it.

Overall, it was a nice and heartwarming evening. We all went to bed nice and bubbly.

Happy Fathers Day

So what does it take to be a good Father?

A good father is one that does not make his children cry, but makes them laugh. (i fail)

A good father is one that does not let mommy worry about the kids. (i fail)

A good father is one that have patience to teach and educate his kids. (i fail)

A good father is one that will drop everything and give his children his full attention. (i fail)

A good father is one that will not break his promises. (i fail)

A good father is one that feeds his kids with nutritious and healthy diets. (i fail)

A good father is one that will read to his kids every night. (i fail)

A good father is one that will spend at least 1hr everyday with his kids. (i fail)

A good father is one that does not need encouragement from his wife. (i fail)

A good father is one that will do his best to be better at being a good father. (i think i pass)

So to all you fathers out there. Happy Fathers Day.
