web standards anyone?

We have all heard of the browser wars and even until now web designers are still facing cross-browser, cross-platform problems when developing web sites. Zeldman and his Web Standards Project have done much for the web design community and i salute to that.

The LORD said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them…” ~ gen 11:6

This is such a powerful statement and i believe it with all my heart that if WE, the web design community will try to speak the same language, use the same standards, then we are really ready to PARTY.

note: the background to why their language was confused and why they were scattered can be found in gen 9:1 when Noah & his sons were told to “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth…“.

dezzo taste of sunglasses?Pearl and Hazeldezzo looks out into the vast ocean

We (dezzo, hazel, pearl & me) went to Fremental on saturday, had fish and chips for lunch, then went to the flea market for a walk and as usual its trigger happy time. dezzo brougth us to have ice-cream and we talked about lots of wierd stuff, lazy names (names when pronouced won’t make your tongue hit your teeth & don’t have the “sssss” or “keh” kinda hardworking sounds), recycling used cargo containers as compact urban dwellings (high-class squatters) and the girls were apparently talking about boring stuff like shopping *yawn* ha ha… :) We then ended the day with a visit to the light house at Fremental Port. As you can see, that is one big ass sign board.

why this site so plain ah?

Molly Holzschlag once said “Content is King” in Web by Design: The Complete Guide and i believe that this term is familiar with many. But does that mean a plain site like mine is considered good? What is good? What is successful?

It is common knowledge that success is a subjective term, but still there must be some form of measurement in order to come to a logical and feasible assessment. For me, I try to achieve flexibility, and maintainability, to be able to adopt different designs and layouts in a short amount of time. Content must be separated from presentation and the entire site must exist independently with out the need for FTP, WYSIWYG editors, or any specific tools. I want to know that I can revamp my entire site at any internet café or any computer that has a connection and a browser.

Would you go to a restaurant for a month and order the same food all the time? Lets say the restaurant is really good, they got the best… I think you got my point…

the coming of spring

Most Singaporeans, don’t know the meaning of spring, come on lets face it our weather is not that exciting. Being blessed with the chance of having an overseas education allowed me to see the season of new life and the festive mood of nature. Flowers are starting to bloom, and the feeling of freshness engages you in a spiritual renewal. I believe I can, I believe I have the strength, and I believe God is manifesting his love for variety, life and renewal of relationships.
