Design contests are really effective to get a pool of great designs by passionate people. The Monson Snowboards Design Contest 2001-2002 is a good example, they have like 6000+ entries already and every single entry has its own unique flair. But in order for this to be achievable, there must exist a ready pool of loyal and talented individuals who wants to be part of it all. K10K definately has that and i think that is why its so successful.
