Web Design Blog

If you subscribe to my website feed, you are probably my friend or someone out there that knows i’m into web stuff.

I’m contemplating setting up another blog to solely talk about Web Stuff.

Do you think i should do it? If so what kind of content would you like to read about?

Ted-ing

Of late, i’ve been looking out for inspiration from the web to fuel my daily battle to do good work. I believe if i don’t see good stuff regularly enough, i can’t produce good stuff.

For the past month, i’ve been soaking up Ted Talks. Hope you’ll enjoy them too and be inspired.

Above, Jonathan Harris talks about The Web’s secret stories.

Excellently slow SISTIC website

OMG! they actually spent $1mil to revamp the site? Apparently that is what was reported on the Digital Life supplement today in the papers. Ok maybe i don’t know the scope of work involved, but still the obvious optimisation stuff are not done and i’ll just name 3.

  1. Nested tables 9 levels deep, meaning super long render time needed
  2. Rendered HTML file alone is more than 300k!!
  3. Super super lots of options in drop down box which takes a long time to render

I can’t look any further and don’t want to analyse anymore. This guy ran some tests and I agree with him on many issues.

I would LOVE to know who did it. If you know, pls tell me.

Given AOL’s current business focus and the success the Mozilla Foundation has had in developing critically-acclaimed products, we feel it’s the right time to end development of Netscape branded browsers, hand the reins fully to Mozilla and encourage Netscape users to adopt Firefox…
