The project manager’s dilemma

If you are working on multiple projects, managing multiple clients and yet have a family, you might relate the the following scenarios. What would you do?

  1. satisfy client A and disappoint client B;
  2. satisfy client B and disappoint client A;
  3. satisfy client A and B, but disappoint wife and kids;
  4. spend time thinking of how you got here and do an online survey to see what will others do.

ATRIA Bloggers Unconference

Tag of Tags

I was real nice to attend ATRIA Bloggers Unconference today. Its the first time i’ve seen like minded Christians coming together to discuss about technology, new media, etc.

I arrived and was surprised that a personalised tag was provided. It even had a tag cloud on it which was generated by… i’m guessing www.tagcloud-generator.com. A very nice touch.

Paul Khoo introduced what ATRIA is and what it hopes to achieve and gave everyone an overview of the evening.

The evening then started off with 3 speakers sharing their views and knowledge of the New Media Scene. Nicholas Aaron Khoo shared about what the New Media space is all about, highlighted several impressive stats on what has happened over the past few years and highlighted how everyone should be relevant. Shing then continued and reassessed the whole fundamentals of New Media all together. I missed the last speaker as i had to go out to take a call.

The session then broke into discussion groups and naturally i joined the Technology Frontier as the other 2 were on Faith and Collaboration. We all introduced ourselves and the discussion then kicked off immediately with ideas, fundamental questions, views, concerns, etc. I enjoyed every moment of it.

I think there will be a video that will be put online soon by Atria… If it does come on, i’ll add to this post.

I have to say, overall, i’m quite impressed on the level of maturity and professionalism in the discussions and do look forward for the next one.

Singapore Science Centre

Rahhhhaaaa

Amidst my busy schedule, i took leave today to bring the kids out. I planned to bring them out during the June holidays, but just did not manage to. Today we went to the Singapore Science Centre, its time to see if the kids are interested in Science or not.

Spinning water

We came across some really cool devices and one of the cool ones was this spinning water thingy. Apparent the faster the the column of water spins, it will leave a large void in the center.

Exhibits

There were so many exhibits there. Everyone had some educational value which is cool, but its really difficult to explain science to 4 or 6 year olds.

Interactive Board

This interactive board was very well done. It will grow plants, buildings and some other items. There is also a cat that will try to hide under what ever items you place on the top. The cat will basically keep finding shelters.

Interactive Board

Then with the string, if you make a junction, Trains will start appearing. Then if you made an oval, the shape fills up with water and ducks start swimming in it.

Kaleidoscope

Can you spot Daddy, Clié and Cleo?

Water Play

Then after viewing almost all of the exhibits, its water play time and the kids had a blast.

All Tired

Now, all showered and dressed, they both fell asleep in the car on the way home. What a wonderful day we had.

Thepans at the Singapore Flyer

Singapore Flyer

Brought the whole family including dad, mom and grand ma to the Singapore Flyer today. As we do drive past Benjamin Shears Bridge alot, Cleo always never fail to shout out in exclamation “FUN FAIR” as we did go up a wheel at a heartland funfair last year.

Tickets

We signed up for Friends of Singapore Flyer so we’ll get free rides whole year round. I do think we will come back again, especially when we have friends from overseas coming over to visit.

Going Up

We purposely selected to start at 7pm, so we get to experience sun set.

NDP Stage

We could see the National Day Parade stage clearly from all the way up here.

Looking Down

Its quite a scary view if you looked directly down when you are right at the top.

Night View

When we were descending, the sky was already dark and the kids were starting to get restless.

Overall its still quite a nice experience.
