It seems like just yesterday that we found out Pearl was pregnant with #3, how time flies, Clara is now one month old.
To celebrate, we held a big BBQ for the family on 10 Oct 2010. I think there were about 80 of us at the BBQ.
BBQ for Clara
That sunday was also the first day Cleo got off her training wheels.
Yo!
Clara have been sleeping alot (like all babies do), been getting breast fed alot, pooping ALOT and interestingly GRUNTING alot especially at night when she is asleep. She keeps on stretching herself as if like she is suppose to transform or something. Really don’t understand as Clié and Cleo both did not make such strange noises.
Clara is in Da House!
When she is awake, she is quite passive and stares at things alot. You can really tell that she can’t focus yet and don’t know what is in front of her. She is constantly in a daze.
Sleepy Girl
When she sleeps, sometimes she pouts her lips and its super cute. She does it very often, so not too difficult to catch it on camera. Maybe she is dreaming of being breast fed.
Tiny Hands
Her hands are oh so tiny.
Tiny Feet
So are her feet.
Sleepy Head
Sometimes she sleeps in this position and she can be gone for several hours. It really looks super comfortable. It reminds me of the time when Clié was found sleeping in our walk-in cupboard.
Watcha lookin at!
But most of the time, Clara is in a daze. She is high on mommy’s goodness every 2 hours or so.
Waiting for the barf
I wonder what will Clara be like when she grows up. As parents we really don’t know what to expect, only time will tell. All we can do is to provide her the best environment we can.
Not too sure why, but Cleo have been very interested with Dinosaurs this week.
She passed me lots of cardboard taken from boxes from Clara’s presents and asked me to draw dinosaurs on them. I really can’t recall how dinosaurs looked like, so roughly did a few and she did a few. She complained she did not have any books about dinosaurs and hence we need to get her some dinosaurs.
She then started cutting them up and playing with them. We had some more thicker cardboard so I cut a few slits into the cardboard and stood the dinosaurs up.
Paper Dinosaur cut outs
The out come was actually quite nice. This reminded me of the last time we did slippers from cardboard.
Cleo wants a pink dinosaur
Pearl’s confinement period just ended and she needed to get some stuff from Tangs, so we were at Orchard today. Cleo saw a dinosaur and keep nagging “I want dinosaur, I want the pink dinosaur”. OMG… She kept saying it all the way till dinner. I don’t mind her liking dinosaurs, but a $16.90 pink plastic T-Rex that does nothing? Did I mention it was PINK!
Cleo with her pop-out dinosaur book and sister Clié
During dinner she still kept nagging in my ear “I want dinosaur, I want dinosaur…”. My mom never nagged me so I’m seriously not used to nagging. Ok so after dinner, we dropped by Borders to look for a book about dinosaurs and we did find a nice one with pop-ups.
Now Cleo is one happy kid.
Being a parent is not easy especially when your kid throw tantrums in public, cry, makes faces. *sigh* but these are also stories that we will tell them when they grow up. When they have their own kids, they will have their own experiences. I was told I threw tantrums too when I was a kid. So I know where she got it from. *sigh*.
We were having dinner and Pearl thinks her water bag ruptured slightly, we stopped what we were doing and brought our kids home. Showered, changed, we decided to rest at home to monitor Pearl a bit more as water was suppose to be gushing, but it was not as dramatic as we thought. Clié and Cleo was induced, so it was still quite a new experience for Pearl.
We were quite sure it was time, so off to the hospital we go. The nurses checked Pearl’s situation and it was confirmed she was in labour.
All the cables were hooked up and the baby’s heartbeat could be heard thru the speakers. It sounded very much like a choo choo train as depicted by the animated choo choo train icon. Very kid-dish-ly cute.
Alot of people have asked me to update them when the baby was coming, so what better way to announce it thru twitter from 12:30am onwards on an early sunday morning of a long weekend.
Epidural
The epidural machine always looked fierce.
Solo Performance
There was another lady who gave birth at about 1:30am or so, but after that the whole Delivery Ward was left to Pearl. The night was quite uneventful, Pearl waited and slept a bit. I sat on the retro brown reclining sofa chair at the side and slept too. I can only imagine the number of fathers who must have sat on the same chair eagerly waiting for the arrival of their little bundle of joy.
For Clié, Pearl admitted in the morning and delivered her in the evening. For Cleo, Pearl admitted in the morning and delivered her in the afternoon. For Clara, Pearl had to go in at midnight and delivered her in the morning.
Clara's hair being washed
After a tiring wait overnight, our gyne Dr Yeoh said Pearl was ready to push as she was fully dilated. I think she just gave 4 real good push and Clara was out. The nurses cleaned her up and baby looked perfect.
Clara's right foot
A footprint was also taken.
Pearl lost quite a lot of blood, hence Dr Yeoh had to attend to her for quite a while more. I don’t want to go into details, but I’m glad everything turned out well. Its amazing that our doctor knew exactly what to do, who to call, what medication to give, etc. Its definitely not easy being a doctor at all, they can’t Google on the spot.
I would like to sincerely thank everyone who have prayed for Pearl. She is fine now. Thank God!
Happy Birthday Clara
In the evening, we celebrated Clara’s birthday with a simple cake. It was after all the day she was born.
Clara Pan
The next day, after dropping Clié off at school, I headed back to the hospital. Mommy was fine, baby was fine, everything was nice and peaceful.
While the nurses were attending to Pearl, I had a good long period of one on one time with Clara.
I looked at her, hummed to her, talked to her as if she could understand me while she was sleeping.
My girls are growing up well. They both have their very own distinct character. Clié is turning 8 and in P2, Cleo is turning 6 and in K2.
Clié Pan
Clié is an emotional girl and can be very sensitive at times. I would say she is rich in her feelings and its clear when she prefers to see drama on TV over cartoons. She will ask things like why this person like this, why that person like that, etc. Plus, she loves to explain to us what she understands too.
She is extremely fidgety and simply can’t sit still. She runs, sings, jumps, dances, twirls and makes loud exclamations as if she is in Camp Rock when she suddenly breaks into song like she is in a musical.
Then five minutes later, its Korean drama where she chokes on her tears and her self esteem takes a nose dive. I think she is a teenager already. With all the makeup, clothes, shoes, accessories, she IS a girl, not yet a women.
Cleo Pan
Cleo Pan
Cleo is a bubbly girl. She is organised, cheerful and generally a lot simpler. She does not do stuff that will make her parents shout at her, but instead her cute little moves makes her parents want to talk to her softly and cuddly her like one of her many carebear plush. Like today, she tied one of her small soft toy on her hair band and went for class. So cuuutteeeee.
She is not into princess stuff, but into soft toys, fast cars, tools and Animal Planet. To me, she is a cool kid.
HOWEVER, she is one of the most stubborn person in the house. If her mind is set on something, its easier to tell Obama to pull out of middle east then to tell her to change her mind (yah yah i’m exaggerating). But i think that might be the only thing that makes us frown.
She is proactive and well organised. For her birthday this year, she told us that it will start at 1pm, cake cutting at 4pm and party will end at 5pm. Both of us parents were surprised, but thats just how Cleo is. She will nag to do stuff for her if i’m suppose to. Like buy her batteries, bring her somewhere, do something for her etc. So she becomes my default reminder person in the house. She WILL remember and reminds me with a smile with her blinky eyes.
Ms #3 Pan
So Pearl is now 38 weeks preggy with #3, we are all wondering how this person will be like. Will she be more like Clié or Cleo? Will she be more like Daddy or Mommy? Or will she be totally different from the rest of us. Just a few days more and Pearl will pop.
I will be giving live updates on twitter and will announce the Hashtag when we go to the hospital. Follow me on twitter at @nickpan if you want to know. Just a few days away, just a few days away.
