Humans. A strange species.

They have managed to accomplishments great feats. They have built amazing structures, many times taller then them. Established efficient cities that allowed a dense number of inhabitants to live in close proximity while being able to control the climate in their habitats all across their planet. They have also pushed their physical bodies, scaled their tallest peaks, dived their deepest oceans. Where they can’t reach themselves, they have sent probes deep into their oceans and into space, far away from their homeworld.

Humans. Although they are one species, they have varied cultures and each rich with practices that gets passed on from generation to generation willingly even if they seem to serve no particular rational meaning. Humans are creative, as they can solve a problem in many different ways when different individuals are tasked to solve them.

There are also activities that they carry out for no productive reason, some of these activities shows desires of bringing order to elements that reflect light spectrum in a geometrical and symmetrical way. Creating objects for the sheer pleasure of creation. Other activities like the act of mating seems popular too but not all acts leads to offsprings as they seem to only enjoy the act.

Having to share a small planet and its resources seems to be a constant struggle with Humans. They fight amongst themselves constantly and kill each other on a daily basis. Their daily activities and over population trend is also harmful to their only planet. They must definitely know it, but then why do they still do it?

Their great accomplishments and detrimental behaviours make them a strange and conflicted species. It feels as if they don’t think they are of the same species.

However, there are some Human dynamics that can’t be explained scientifically and some of these actions should be caused by reasons that are unobservable by science. By talking to a group in a certain way before engaging in combat increases their abilities. They believe in some things that are unseen, unheard and plainly unobservable. They at times act extremely irrationally even at the lost of their lives to ensure the survival of others.

Humans, so brilliant yet so wretched.

Again.

20130913_blood

I hit him again. Again and again.

Sweat and tears streamed down my face. My mind was a blank.

My fist raised above my head in duet with my lungs as it expands and contracts with each drive of my bleeding clenched fist upon his cheekbone with my left knee pinning him down at his neck.

He deserved it. He asked for it. He deserved it.

I hit him again. Again and again.

AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGHHH!!!!!!!

ASSHOLE!!! YOU ASSHOLE!!!!!!

I held my breath to deliver yet another tight fist into his face.

AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGHHH!!!!!!!

I hit him AGAIN! AGAIN AND AGAIN!

WHY do you want me to do this! WHY do you want me to give you what you deserve. WHY can’t you just not be an asshole!!!

I hit him AGAIN! AGAIN AND AGAIN!

Eventually I got tired. My momentum slowed down. Objective thoughts started flooding back into my mind. My eyes darted up and down as I looked at the damage I’ve done. He was lifeless and I gave him a final effortless slap with the remaining strength i’ve left and fell back. I sat leaning backwards with my arms stretched out to support my dripping body. The ground unbiasedly soaked up sweat, tears and blood creating an imprint of what have just happened.

I think i’ve just killed someone.

This could be the explosion my tutor warned me about.

You see, when I was in my early secondary school days, I had an Indian tutor. I addressed her as Mrs Pandian. She was old and wise. I never did give her any trouble. I respected her.

She hardly knew me as we never talked about stuff outside of school syllabus (at least from what I can remember), but one day out of the blue, she told me something that I will remember for the rest of my life.

She said “Nicholas, you are a very good boy and you have a very good heart, you keep things to yourself even when you are angry.” I was startled as no one talked to me like that before. She continued with her calm and kind voice, “I see you like a volcano, you keep on keeping things inside you. And one day, you will need to explode and if you do, a lot of people around you will get hurt. It’s not going to be nice. So don’t explode ok, ask Jesus to help you.”

Its been more than twenty years and I’ve never forgotten those words. I think this have to be the first time someone really talked to me. I’m not just one of the children, not just one of the kids in class. I’m me and she looked thru me and she talked to me.

Till this day, i’m still keeping it all in. I take all the crap people throw at me. I smile, I try to make things better and try to look beyond everything.

I keep it all in. Again and again.

Group photos of Clié, Cleo and Clara just before they go out every time
#goingout

So its been about 10 months now and my little #goingout project is going on consistently. Its really easy because my lift lobby have good lighting in the morning and a spacious studio like wall. So while my wife and helper get ready all the logistics before we can go out, we use this time to try out interesting poses and funny expressions.

Now, my daughters take it as a routine already and they all will automatically get in line to take a picture. Imagine 5 years later. I hope we can keep this up.

Haze, i just met you

Last night my office’s whatsapp chat group went crazy because of the haze. Jokes about and this is the best one from Rosalinda.

Here is a photo from this morning’s trip to a client meeting overlooking the Singapore Flyer.

I had my GoPro for a month now and I’ve not really tried using it properly in Singapore with my kids and doing extreme or outdoor stuff yet. So during our trip to Bali I brought it along hoping to do some cool videos of me surfing (I don’t think I managed to surf), but instead I did a timelapse for one of the epic meals we had at Take Japanese Restaurant.

Used primarily a Bike Mount on a bottle cap screwed on a bottle full of water for weight.
