The Cousins

The Cousins

I can’t remember if we ever took a picture like this before or not as its almost impossible. I have cousins flying in from UK & USA over last weekend and i’m glad we managed to meet up for a nice meal.

Dominique (UK) have grown so much and its funny talking to her as we always have our silly chats about everything. lol… the last time i saw her was in 2004 when i went to Europe for a biz trip.

Kenny (USA/LA) have also grown alot more matured and i have to say he thinks way older than his age. The last time i saw him was when he came over to Singapore in 2005.

It was definitely a memorable week when they were both over.

Seafood Pasta

The indoor grill

A few nights ago, my wife asked me what i wanted to have for dinner and i was really craving for crabs, prawns and lobsters, hence we had an indoor grill that day.

The setting

It was beautiful.

Happy Girl

The girls were happy.

Cheeky Girl

One was cheeky.

The Chef

And i’m glad I brought the chef home.

the Art of Teh Peng-ing

the humble Teh Peng

There is this coffee stall that i get my morning drink almost every other day. I’ve tried to buy my drink from quite a number of stalls around my office, but this stall at Hong Lim Complex have to be the best.

The lady that prepares the drink is a real character. You have the guy who prepares the drink inside, and the lady takes the order. In order not to let the guy forget the order, she keeps repeating the order over and over again. She tries to make the order repeating process a little more interesting, hence adds a few words here and there to construct differnet sentences, but its still just repeating the order.

The reason i always buy from this lady is because of the level of understanding she have for her take-away-peng drinks. These are the things she do, that others usually don’t.

  • Uses big chunks of ice rather than small pieces. This means less total surface area for the ice = the ice melts slower = the drink lasts longer.
  • After putting on the plastic cover, she holds the cup up upside down to make sure the ice floats up to the bottom of the cup to ensure the drinks is evenly cold.
  • She pokes in the straw, so you don’t have to. If you have tried poking in straws, you will know sometimes it splashes all over your hand and worse still your white office shirt in the morning.
  • She than puts on the plastic handle and uses 2 hands to pass you the drink, so that you can use one hand to hold the middle part of the plastic handle.

To think she came up with such processes. Way cool man.

The next time you get a teh-peng take away, see how its done and you will see how these small differences make big deal.

Knocked Up by the Jetta

Knocked Up

Pearl and I caught Knocked Up on friday and it was actually quite nice. Having heard a fairly good review on CNA’s morning show, hence the decision to see it.

The cast was decent and as parents, we could relate to many of the stresful situations. The girl was beautiful and the guy was responsible, not sure how many guys would do what he did in the show.

Midway thru, I somehow can’t help but think the script was written by a woman as there were many parts where the guy was so nice that it feels like he is what girls would want their guys to behave.

The girl drove a very nice red car and after some research i found out it was the Volkswagen Jetta, after searching a bit more i would have to say the white ones are even nicer.

Volkswagen Jetta

Read a review on Oneshift about it and its apparently quite a good affordable yet sporty and elegant car that was recently launched in Singapore. Cool, but too bad its not time for me to change my car, else I think i might just get it.

Volkswagen Jetta

It looks great at night too.
